A good point, and one of more concern perhaps to folks living in the northern states and Canada. The one thing I've noticed with my 8 yard PV (admittedly not from USAK) is that it has weight, but tends to be a bit more "fly away" in the wind.

But then everyones tolerance to their winter is going to vary a bit.

While PV does a good job, it just is not the same as wool. Too bad the 16oz wool is so danged expensive.

    Fear not Frank,

Here in the Arizona Canyonlands the winters are cold and windy. I own three USAKilts semi-traditionals and have hiked in them in the winter without a problem.

Key is to keep the heat loss areas warm, although in this pic taken last winter, I'd slipped my gloves off for the photo. Was cold enough all the water that normally seeps out of the sandstone was frozen solid. Icecycles everywhere. A bleak and cold day and I was warm and toasty in my Ireland's National semi-traditional with kilt hose, jacket, and cap.

You can't go wrong with Rocky and Kelly.
