I was not calling YOU a troll, but the above were a list of samples of that which is said in the fights about fur.
I KNOW many have objections to fur. I am also interested in other sporrans that aren't even leather,so I can be kilted to the ocassion and anticipated crowd present. I would NOT where a fur sporran to an earth day or animal rights convention, but would to other stuff.
As I cannot talk about theology, let's leave this topic to off-X Marks. ALL of us have our opinion.

How about full mask, mouth open Tasmanian Devil? Now that would be a sight!

In case anyone in the UK is interested I have a neighbour who does the same kind of thing - www.katemacphersonsporrans.co.uk I understand her raw materials are either roadkill or have been shot as vermin, so no ethical dilemmas.

Ethics?
Just in case anyone is curious, we do have a completely imitation fur sporran for sale as well, for those who like the look but dislike real fur.
http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/sporran_fur.html
It's the 8th one down, available in 3 colors.
Also, I have to point out that this whole ethical argument seems to only come up when we are talking about mask-on sporrans. We've just added them to our range, and this is the *first time* anyone has mentioned anything like this. We've had fur sporrans and plain leather sporrans for sale for years with no issues. In fact, 99.99% of all sporrans you see for sale anywhere will be leather. Same thing with kilt belts, sporran belts, kilt shoes, and the like.
This story happened to me years ago: I was wearing a fox mask sporran that I made myself. I purchased the mask from a Native American gift shop that shold masks and feet from pelts that were used in the clothing industry that would otherwise be thrown away. He saw that as wasteful and disrespectful to the animal, so he made an arrangement with this particular company to take the feet and masks and sell them for people to use in native crafts.
Anyway, I was wearing the sporran, and this young lady at a festival came up to me, almost sick to her stomache, yelling about my cruelty to animals and how dare I and on and on.... all the while wearing a leather belt, with a leather pouch hanging from it. So I politely told her that I had no intention of causing her offense, and pointed out that if she had an ethical problem with wearing the skin of an animal, she needed to weed a few items out of her own wardrobe. The only difference between my pouch and hers was the fact that foxes are "cuter" than cows. Objecting to the use of fur or leather only when the animal is cute and sympathetic undermines any ethical basis for the argument.
In any case, leather sporrans are the standard, and full mask sporrans have always been around for those who want the extra flare. What is new are sporrans made from synthetic materials, like imiatation fur. We offer both, adn are glad to do so. If you have a problem with leather, or with fur, don't buy one. We've got alternatives for you. But don't be surprised to see traditional items like this being offered for purchase, either.

My badger sporran is almost exactly like this one, but in brass with brown leather. I purchased mine at the Wee Scottish Loft, but it is probably from the same sporran maker.
