			Sweater Conundrum

I like wearing sweaters in the colder months. I've got a few favorties, and I like the sweater/kilt combo (and it negates the belt!). Something I've noticed though, and have had a hard time figuring out what to do about it, is that my sweaters seem to be to long to wear with my SWK and tank. No problems with my UKs and PK, just the traditionals.
A lot of the problem has to do with the sporran. When I wear it over the sporran, it almost completely covers it, and I end up with an unsightly bulge down front. When I put the front of the sweater up behind the sporran, it bunches, and then there's a long drop to the back of the sweater, which just looks funny.

What is the best thing to do? Find sweaters that are shorter, or sweaters with an elastic band on the bottom?

 Cheers,
 Nick

I just bought a couple wool sweaters from Sierra Trading Company. Forget the name of the English company that made them.
Know what you're talking about. I just sorta pulled the front sweater bottom up so it rests on top of my sporran. That does make sort of an off balanced look since the back tends to drop farther down from gravity.

Tried a cardigan last year and it came in so long its like wearing a lab coat with the kilt.

 Go figure.

Maybe time to double check Ham's gallery.

Something I noticed while in Scotland - the most common sweater (jumper?) I saw on anyone wearing a kilt was the "commando" style:

These seem to be sized a bit shorter than the "normal" US sweater.

I saw something like that in a J Higgins catalog, they were for pipers. I like it, but the ones in the catalog were a bit out of my current price range.

Try military surplus outlets. I've seen them anywhere from $25 to $75 depending on where they're being sold, and what they're made of (acrylic and nylon vs. wool, etc.)

Try folding the bottom of the sweater (jumper) under to shorten it, works for me.

I also fold my sweaters under. Most sweaters will have at least a semi-elastic band at the bottom. I put the bottom of the sweater up at the top of my kilt, then let the rest fold down. It usually comes right to the top of where I usually wear my sporran.
Every now and then I need to adjust my sporran to wear it a bit lower than normal, but usually I have no problem with this method.
