Images in forum signatures
I would like to humbly suggest that you start allowing small images to be posted in user's signatures. This would facilitate the use of signature banners and the like. You could limit it to something like 300x100 or around that (whatever you like) I think it would really spruce up the place and add some visual variety, to mention adding a nice customization element to user's profiles. Users tend to really like this feature, I know I sure do.
Thanks lads!

Tapadh liebh Ghaisgeil, a charaid.
The subject of signature images has come up in the past and has always resulted in the decision to disallow them. While they can add a bit of flair to a post, they can also get out of hand and that is what we are trying to prevent. We want the content of the post to be attractive, moreso than the signature image below it. While we do keep track of members' suggestions and requests, this is one that will likely not happen.

I think that's a great idea and I immediately placed a pic in my Signature block!!

And somehow, your usergroup permissions have not been properly established. I'll be working on that in just a moment, so don't fret when you see the image disappears.

He he. Oops. I guess it was nice while it lasted for ya!
I'm not a fan of image signatures, I've been on some forums with them and they make the place look terrible.

I don't have a problem with reasonable signatures, even those that contain backlinks. (Although we do have a conditional rel="nofollow" attribute in place on all signature links.)
My personal view is that if a member wants to provide a backlink to his or her own site, then as long as the link is in good taste and is neither competitive or overwhelming, then allow the backlink. It is a way of thanking the member for taking the time to post on the forum.
When you get a Photoshop wizard inserting images into a signature, then those that do not have that ability are clamoring for sig images, or are put off because they cannot be as creative. Either way, it is a problem.

Well, 's e do bheatha Mike for at least considering it. I'm a bit disappointed, but that's quite alright, it's your site to with as you please. This is a nice community to belong to with or without sig images.
And to think I already had a couple all done up and ready to go in case you approved! Ah well, such is life!

I hope it wont, way too often sig pics get out of hand.

I'd have to say I wouldn't care much for it either. I agree, the images can be nice and all, but as a dial-up user (yes, yes, I know no broadband in my area) I am a "fewer pictres the better" kinda guy.
