Not exactly retired, but starting back in '69 I put a dozen or so years in with our local Fire Department. Didn't particularly want to leave, but it was starting to take more time to stay on top of the training and regulations than I had to give. It's a volunteer outfit, and I had a full time job and growing family. Still have some friends up there among the old timers. Some of the kids too, the sons of the guys I served with. I'm not humping hose, driving an engine or teaching classes up there anymore. Now I'm their Piper, and also their contact with the local electric utility ( I'm a troubleshooter with that outfit)
All skill and effort is to no avail when an angel pees down your drones.
