    I was out and about most of Sunday in my heavy Irish National wool kilt. The temps on Sunday was in the -28C range, and I wasn't the slightest bit cold. Even shovelled the driveway off when I got back home.

    If you get a good quality 8-yard wool kilt, cold temps won't be an issue. You'll be far warmer in your kilt than if you'd been wearing jeans.

    Hm well that's good to hear. Today I went to work in jeans w/ thermal undies & standard drawars, and a long sleeved t-shirt under a sweater .. and that was just for the walk .. I work inside .. ;)

    For those who are wondering .. -30C is what we call RFC .. I'm sure you can flesh out the acronym. It's almost cold enough to get frostbite on your teeth. In total honesty, I think bare flesh freezes in about 2.5 minutes at that temp. There wasn't much wind today so it was fine but yesterday the windchill brought the temp to something like -45. Not pretty.

    I'm in Calgary, which is in western Canada just on the east side of the rocky mountain range.

    It's never too cold to kilt, of course, long johns underneath may be a good idea in your neck of the woods!

    Yesterday, I wore my Armstrong 16 oz 9-yarder, a t-shirt, parka, oatmeal KH, and hiking boots. Was a lot warmer than I was earlier when I'd put the snow tires on the car and ran to the PO. Wore shorts with cotton rugby socks, with the rest of the outfit mentioned above. Actually had a buddy of mine ask me if I was cold. Saw him a few minutes later and had taken off my parka, since I was so warm.

    "F = -30 x 9/5 + 32 = -22F = COLD!!"
    Meh, so I was a little off. I didn't know the conversion math, so I guessed. Although I recall the -25F winters in Milwaukee not feeling as cold as the the much milder temperatures out here. Probably because it was a "dry" cold... typically seems to be more humid out here, and when it gets cold, it seems to eat into you more.

    I currently reside in WA state...I have sort of settled in this area, because my parents chose it, and well... I go to college here, and I have a great circle of close friends too... and a job, and a hopeful future business with one of those said close friends. So I am in no hurry to go anywhere.

    ROFL! My apologies. I think the same thing when I see those damnable slashes that signify a fraction is a'coming!

    Currently here where I am (Jamestown ND) it is 0F/-18C with a steady 22mph wind produsing a wind chill of -23F a bit chilly. I don't tend to spend much time out in weather like this but I have no problems with being cold kilted as long as I remember proper hat, coat, and mits.
