How to explain why you wear a kilt.

Does anyone know if it's common to be asked why you are wearing a kilt in Scotland? Just curious, I intend to be kilted a lot back home and wonder if questions are common there too. You'd think not, huh?

The week we spent in Scotland in Sept I was kilted the whole time, either my UK or a traditional kilt. I had two women at a tea shop say they appreciated a man with enough sense to wear a kilt. Another few merely stated the kilt looked good in passing. The only others I saw kilted were P1M and some guys at a train station dressed for a wedding. Otherwise, nobody seemed to pay much attention. Wear your kilt and enjoy it.

I had this exact question last week at a local convience store. The question caused several folks around me to stop what they were doing to hear the answer. (kind of reminded of the old EF Hutton commercials ) My answer, 'I am over 40, 6 foot 2 250 pounds.... I wear it because I WANT TO'. One of the guys near me almost dropped his coffee when he heard that.
