Very nice. Was this done for some kind of project?

Nope - she just did it in her spare time between classes yesterday. She's a piper and she's also in Air Force ROTC (she'll commission this spring when she graduates), and both things mean a lot to her. So, it just came from the heart.

When she applied to college, one of the essays she was asked to write was a 100-word essay describing where she would travel to and why if she could go anywhere for two weeks (could be in the past, present, or a fictional place). Here's what she wrote as a 17-year-old:
"Im sitting in the mud; its 1916 on the Somme. I am identified by my comrades as a bagpiper, but, until now, I had never experienced the true power of the Great War Pipes. Two weeks ago, I found myself standing in a recruiting line, my hair shorn close to my head. Now, my training over, I lead the Gordon Highlanders. We leap from the trenches and run forward in a mass charge against an enemy that we cannot even see, and through it all, the pipes, _my_ pipes, call the Highlanders to battle."

Very nice to combine two things she loves and express it visually.

Very nicely done. My faith for the future is growing every time I see things so well done by kids and young adults. A few years ago that faith was almost gone. Are parents getting better at parenting? I think they are.

Out-friggin'-standing. Well done kid.
Don't know that I've ever heard The Lament on a fiddle before; was that her?
For those who might be wondering about that clip of Eric Bogle's song "Green Fields of France", Last Post.
