Folks are too worried about being politically correct that they fuss over every detail about the Holidays. I'm not offended by Hanukkah, Yule, Kwanzaa or any other Celebration that is held this time of year. So why are folks so bent out of shape when it comes to putting up a Christmas tree. Put a menorah next to it and a basket of fruit with some incense and be happy. Most Christmas traditions are rooted in non-Christian celebrations anyhow.
And ya'll don't let anyone spoil your fun. Just think back to when you were a kid, remember what made the holiday special and see if you can find that again.

Christmas has always been commercialised, but it seems to be the older I get the more I notice it. This is the first year I haven't even put up my Christmas lights early (I used to put them up towards the end of Nov.). The whole point of this time of year isn't to buy as much as you can, it's about spending time with your loved ones. If you don't have loved ones, then drink to your little hearts content int: .
The nice thing is I do get excited about Christmas time because of my Children. They are the ones who get excited about the lights, the decorations, the snow, the whole idea of Christmas time. Because of them I get excited for Christmas time.
There is no point in stressing, just enjoy yourself.

I work in a Macy's department store. There have been some Christmas decorations up there since around mid-late October Christmas decorations before halloween is even done.
I find it very frustrating as well.
I just try and ignore it all, as some others have suggested.

Between my brothers' in-laws, my working on Christmas (I'm one of the few feds that works holidays), and my being two thousand miles away for part of that time, my family hasn' celebrated Christmas on Christmas for a decade or so. So we normally celebrate sometime in the first week of January.
It takes some of the edge off the commercialism. Yes, there are the holiday sales and post-holiday sales, but we get an extra week of shopping (and no standing in the Returns line). No pressure to decorate the house - as long as the tree is up by the 24th, and is still up on "Christmas," we don't care. While everyone else is winding down from the holiday stress, we haven't gotten stressed yet. The only Christmas related activities I've done are measure one brother for the kilt I'm making him and download some carols to learn on the practice chanter.
And if someone wants to start listening to Christmas music prior to Thanksgiving, I help them.
I go get my "Caledonia Cathedral" CD and play the tracks with Christmas-related hymns - played on the bagpipes.

Yep! that's my attitude too. But I am also the kind of fellow that wishes folks Merry Christmas for a little over a week after Christmas Day. In part it is my way to stab back at rushing it in the first place.

I refuse to say "Merry Christmas" until after the day has arrived, partly for religious reasons and partly for the same reason you have.
As far as I'm concerned, the party doesn't start until Dec 25th!

And it's equally amazing how soon after Christmas that Easter Eggs start appearing!

I'm with you, Schultz. And I keep saying it right up to January 6, Twelth Night.

...of course, if you want a new matress, take heart that the "Presidents' Day Mattress Blowout" will probably start next week...
