    The painting of Saint John Duns Scotus was by an artist named Murray and was purchased by the Council in 1994 but I have no further details. This link has a lot of useful information about Saint John Duns Scotus and how the word dunce is derived.

    I seem to recall that Duns Scotus was on one of the Scottish banknotes...

    Back in the 70s anyway!
