James, I have to agree with Bob C. The tartan bow-tie and cummerbund just do not work - I'd go for a black bow-tie and Dress belt - and the lovat hose are non-starters for me; far too casual. Much as I dislike white hose, I do wear them formally and either white or off-white (which would still look fine with the white shirt!) hose are recommended by this old lag!!
The black kilt does not work as you present it because of the lovat hose again, and the tartan cummerbund and bow-tie. I think, if you are going for black jacket and kilt, you should restrict the entire outfit to black and white - black bow-tie and Dress belt with white/off-white hose. Black hose, with either kilt, would be just too much black - black hose with black shoes never looks right to me!
My black kilt is in barathea, the same fabric as my Prince Charlie. When mixing black fabrics you need to ensure that the 'blacks' are identical in shade and tone!
I just love your jacket, by the way, and since it is not entirely traditional, I would suggest not trying to find a waistcoat to wear with it - you could have difficulty matching the 'blacks' anyway! I'd wear it as it is.
