I don't want to be sowing descension in your household - really I don't. But DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR WIFE! In this matter: She. Is. Wrong! Your friend won't make any mistakes so how are you going to learn from that? Home brewing is easy and damned hard to bugger up. Jump in and do it.
