Thanks all for the great comments. I wish I could get a better shot of the pleats. I pressed the he!! out of them (maybe even too much) and they are quite crisp.

This is not to be taken as a citicism but I see something with your kilt that I see frequently with others, yet I have never before questioned it. The tartan pattern of the fringed edge of the apron does not line up with that of the pleated section which it meets. I assume this could be corrected by moving the buckle and strap slightly, but I am not sure.
Hadn't noticed that till you pointed it out. It could be that the under apron was riding a little higher than the front (shirt covered that up) and just needed to be pulled down to match. Not sure though.

The shirt was an eBay purchase from www.got-kilt.com.

The finger tips sure are sore (never ended up getting a thimble ), but I'm chomping at the bit to get the next one started. Pleating to the sett is a little different then the stripe.

    KT,

The kilt looks great. Wonderful pleats! If that is your first attempt I shudder to think how gorgeous your second one will be.

    Cheers

Sensational KT! I aspire to such a feat with my first kilt. This is yet to be seen  and you've raised the bar somewhat, well done.
Someday I will oh yes.... I will.
