Within the past 36 hours, I participated in a discussion with my Scottish Pastor and two of my fellow church members about the tradition of wearing the kilt in Scotland and how it has fallen by the wayside there.
Last Saturday night I wore my kilt and argyle to a Christmas Party where lots of small children were present, the Scottish Santa was piped in and out by a bagpiper; a show and tell session was conducted by a native Scottish lady who described to the children some of the Scottish Christmas traditions. After the show and tell, the children particpated in some of the customs, it was a very educational and enjoyable evening. These children are learning about our Scottish heritage at an early age.
Tonight I am going to a Christmas party at the home of one of my fellew church members who participated in the above mentioned discussion, I may wear my kilt to that party. I can't think of a better way to let my friends know there are some of us out here who aren't going to let those traditions die.
