    Local Motels

These motels are all within a very few blocks of the pub. You really could stagger home if needs be, or pay 5 bucks or so for a cab.

    Jameson Inn of Conyers
    1164 Dogwood Drive
    Conyers, Georgia 30012
    770-760-1230
    http://www.jamesoninns.com
    Rate Range: $65 - $70

La Quinta Atlanta Conyers Inn And Suites
    1184 Dogwood Drive SE
    Conyers, GA 30012
    770-918-0092
    http://www.laquinta.com
    Rate Range: $59 - $119

    Ramada Limited of Conyers
    1070 Dogwood Drive
    Conyers, GA
    770-760-0777
    http://www.ramada.com
    Rate Range: $72 - $99

I recommend the Jameson or La Quinta as the nicest. There are other equally nice places, but these are literally no more than a few blocks.

I would recommend these since they are within a very few blicks of the pub:

    Jameson Inn of Conyers
    1164 Dogwood Drive
    Conyers, Georgia 30012
    770-760-1230
    http://www.jamesoninns.com
    Rate Range: $65 - $70

La Quinta Atlanta Conyers Inn And Suites
    1184 Dogwood Drive SE
    Conyers, GA 30012
    770-918-0092
    http://www.laquinta.com
    Rate Range: $59 - $119

These are the nicest and you really can stagger there if you want, but a cab ride would be about five bucks.

There are other very nice ones close by as well, Hampton Inn, Days Inn, and even the Hawthrone Suites golf resort if you are so inclined, but they would require a bit more driving.

And a long drive after a Burns Supper is not always adviseable.

    Burns Night Looking UP

Seems I did the motel thing twice.

    It's been a long day!

I will try to find a piper to join us since I am only learning and wouldn't think of trying the pipes in public myself.

If any of you want to play, chime in.

    Burns Night Plans

In response to the quickly growing supper, here's generally what we plan:

    1. We'll have our own dining room if we all fit. If not, we'll take over the whole pub.
    2. Dinner will be traditional. (I insist on haggis, but we will Americanize it with some hamburger added and offer another meat perhaps. Neaps and tatties, etc will be the fair.)
    3. All traditions will be observed, e.g., piping in the haggis, address to the haggis, toasts, etc. (look it up here: http://www.worldburnsclub.com/supper...pper_intro.htm )
    4. The pub will offer everything but drinks at one price. We'll run the supper ourselves. I'll serve as host for this one since I seem to be doing the planning. Ha.
    5. Like a good Burns supper, it'll be loose, laid back, and fun. Lots of talk, foolishness, and poetry. Plan to take part in reading or--better yet--reciting. I'd love to hear someone reel off a good "To a Louse" with a brogue.
    6. We're open to suggestions here. It's our party and we'll do what we like.

I believe I'm not too awful far from Conyers as well. I would love to come and partake in the festivities but i admit I do not know of all the traditional items you mentioned before, so I'd be new at it all. Would a newbie to the scene be alright??

Absolutely Chris. I'm pretty sure most of us have never been to a Burns Supper.

Jim, for pipers you might check with the Atholl Highlanders in Stone Mountain.

Well thats nice, I would enjoy meeting up with some X-markers. As, we don't have much kilt wearing here in Georgia that I've seen so far

For about a year there were only a handful of us in GA, but recently there has been a huge influx of new members from GA. We will hopefully be able to begin some regular kilt nights at some of the many Celtic and Irish pubs here.

There is an okay pub in Marietta called McCrackin's, if anyone may be interested in doing a night out on my side of town afterwards..
