    Kilts in "the Queen"

I just got home from an evening out with a friend. We saw "The Queen," starring Helen Mirren as ER II. Since most of the scenes involving the royal family take place in and around Balmoral, kilts are featured prominently on Princes Charles and Phillip, though this is probably no surprise. There is one other worn by an honor guard, if I recall correctly, in one very quick scene.

    It was a good movie.

I would definitely like to see this movie regardless of kilt-wearing, but that's an added bonus!

Don't forget the opening shot of the movie - the Sovereign's Piper performing his morning duties outside Buckingham Palace to gently wake Her Majesty with the dulcet tone of the pipes.

I got lucky with this film. A friend of mine (a movie critic by trade) received a review copy of this on DVD prior to the movie's general release, so I got an exclusive screening.

This film received 'rave' reviews here in the United Kingdom and I regret to say I missed it when it was on circuit (I need to be dragged by wild horses to the cinema thesedays; it's seldom a pleasant experience!). I am now waiting for its release on DVD, but I suspect we are going to be waiting for some time for that - successful films on DVD always seem to be held back although they are no longer playing in cinemas!
