No bad news there at all... The weight coming off means you'll be around longer to enjoy your new wardrobe!

fantstic Caradoc! The difference is very noticable. Not just around the waist, but also slimmer through your face. Looking good.
I'd also like to know what type of diet/exercise program you're following.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress.

I'll add to the number of people who want to know what diet you're using. I can't exercise much anymore, because of a lot of health problems. Couple that with the fact that I don't have much money and eating cheaply tends to be eating fatteningly and you come up with the fact that I'm now about 330lbs. So please let us in on your secret!

I'm on a "protein sparing modified fast."
Zero carbs. Not just low carbs... NONE. I'm also on limited portions of other foods - no "unlimited protein," for example.
Currently I'm eating 15 ounces of protein a day, and 14 ounces of vegetables, LOTS of water to flush the ketones, and multiple vitamin supplements (prescription).
I have blood drawn every two weeks to check electrolyte balances.
It's a pretty severe diet - but I started it on Nov 14. I'd lost about 25 lbs on my own, and I wasn't happy with it. So, I talked to my doctor, he referred me to Dr. Sophia Fountis (http://www.chiro-medcenters.com/) and I started the diet the day after I got back from my honeymoon. -33 lbs since then.

Congrats on the good news! That is amazingly hard to do, especially in modern society (even harder in the American South, land of the deep frier- much like Scotland actually, only we use it all the time on everything). I'm very happy for you.
Now, losing it is the first half of the battle. MAINTAINING the new weight is the hard part. My father and I were both 260 or so and we both decided to try different diets. In a while be both got to about 185-190. Several years later, I am maintaining 195 or so. He is back to 240s and 42-44 inch waist . I feel your excitement and pain.
I'm not sure if my advise could help, but I cut out 2-3 LITERS of COCA-COLA a DAY. THAT made a HUGE difference in my caloric intake. Each "diet" MUST be tailored to the individual so it will be appropriate and the accompanying lifestyle change must be able to be maintained even with the "favorites" and "weaknesses" of each.
, now back to Caradoc
Now, for the second part, the problem . . .
At least you have some belted plaids to get you through the hard times until everything stablizes. The tailor-made worsted ones are worth the retailoring to get them to fit. It may be a bit more complicated for an 8 yarder tank, due to the wiast cutouts, but a completant kilt retailor expert could overcome that most likely. As for the Stiillwaters and any other "pre-sized" kilts, I'd say sell them off to a fellow X Marker (I see the sale section in your future) and reinvest the money into new ones.
Like no one saw that advise coming . . .
Cloves, I LOVE your signature line: "Inside me is a thin woman screaming to get out. But I can usually shut the b*tch up with chocolate!"
I can identify. OH I LOVE M&Ms and DARK chocolate! What was I talking about:confused:

Not really. My wife says that I won't be allowed to *replace* any kilts purchased after I lose the weight.
So, if they get snug, I need to watch what I'm eating. Built-in alarm system, no arguments allowed.
