Kilt #48 is Here! RAF Tartan by Kathy Lare
Thanks to Cessna152towser, who let us know the RAF tartan existed, Mr. Arthur Mackie who created the RAF tartan and had the cloth woven, and Kathy Lare who both obtained the cloth for me from Mr. Mackie and sewed up the kilt, I now am able to honor my father's service with the Royal Air Force in War II.
The kilt is 16oz from Strathmore Wollen Co. Kathy Lare hand sewed the kilt and matching RAF flashes - though she also suggested I use the House of Edgar "maroonish" flashes in the photo.
Replica RAF Battlejacket is from www.whatpriceglory.com but can't recall where the insignia came from.
Sporran is a Freelander. Kilt hose are the new Lewis kilt hose by way of the Scottish Tartans Museum. Cap is from Castlebar, Hats of Ireland; a gift from my brother. Kilt pin is the X Marks until my War II victory ribbon & wreath pin arrive.
It was a grim day for light to take photos and the colors don't seem true on my monitor. View is from the north side of Manson Mesa looking across the Colorado River and up into Utah.
Christmas was a week early for me this year.

The blue sky and the blue tartan... I don't know what to say. So beautiful.

I know you know how good they are O'Neille,
Already paid the first installment for my next Kathy's Kilt. The material for my 16 oz Strome Isle of Skye should be in from Lochcarron soon...if not already.
If I'm gonna be a "kilt junkie" I might as well use the "pure" stuff.

That's awesome, Ron. Those battledress jackets from WPG are great, aren't they?

Aye Sav,
I keep looking at the Scottish cut brown one too...but the length seems too long for todays kilt fashion look. Authentic though.
Also have the officers and enlisted U.S. "Ike" jackets which go well with kilts.
Looks like he's closing out his RAF line though.

Awesome Ron! That is one sweet kilt, and an Isle of Skye in the wings? SWOON.....
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long
