Sett vs. Stripe

Great illustrations Barb - its interesting just how much the pleating choice can change the overall look of a kilt - and the look of a kilt in motion. By the way - I've always loved that photo your daughter and her fella walking away from the camera hand in hand - Perhaps it should be on back cover of your book?

One great advantage of pleating to the stripe hasn´t yet been mentioned:
It´s much easier to alter the kilt!
I am slowly but steadily losing weight and have already had to make some of my kilts smaller ... it is much easier to take out a stripe pleat, the pattern doesn´t change as it would with a pleating to the sett!

I've always found as a photographer that a picture from the front does not always look the best. The back photo seems to have a more powerful feel, with lots of emotion.

Have you ever made a kilt in that rare, third way of pleating whose name I cannot remember, starts with a K (I believe) from the name of either the tartan or the place it was found? It has knife pleats going in opposite directions on either side of a center pleat, which is something like a box pleat, as I recall.

From the photo of it that was posted somewhere in X Marks, it looks as if it would feel...different...to walk wearing one.

If the new edition of your book included instructions on how to make this kind of pleating, it would be truly encylopedic.

No, I never have, and I think I won't be trying to include that as well. Can't do everything!
