Ron,
Just out of curiosity (since I rarely need to shop for "kilt accessories" online)... is this kind of thing a big problem? Does it happen that often?
We just keep a few of everything in stock and re-order when we get a little bit low. Do other stores (that you've used) tend to be out of stock of "stockable" items (not custom kilts, but buckles and the like)?

Right now a hoodie is what I wear with my kilt due to a lack of a sporran. The big pocket on the front helps make up for the lack of other storage options.

Crack me up Ham...you are so cool.
The "bad boys" do that over here too. Even in our very remote rural frontier community. Sometimes I think I'm back in my college fraternity initiation ceremony what with all the kids moping around shrouded in their hoods.
Like Cessna, I wear my hood down save foul weather. Wearing the hood down makes a lovely "nest" for my ponytail.
But, hey Ham, if you ever had need for a disguise - I'll bet the hoodie would do it for you...even kilted.

Yup Rocky, afraid so.
Its a common deal (in my experience) for some stores to advertise as if they stocked a product that actually don't stock it. When/if they get an order they "try" and get it shipped to them to reship to me and the wait is LONG.
In "my experience" in the kilt accessories business its almost a way of life.
The now defunct Scottish Lion did that all the time. Some Scottish books I ordered well before Christmas for my nephews arrived in August of the following year. Yet they were in the SL catalog, website, and I was assured they had the when I placed the order over the phone.
Think I've posted about my kilt hose adventures before. One "outfitter" promised all was in stock and that they maintain a huge inventory of kilt hose. So I ordered. Six weeks later I got a drop shipment from the mill with my order.
Think you've been through it yourself with me ordering kilt hose from you.
Maybe not a good example since kilt hose sell fast and it would take a lot of money to stock all the sizes and colors....but I'd SURE love to find the house that does.
I'm waiting for one pair of kilt hose now from a member of this board. Its not a lot of fun to have to pay the charge for the goods on my credit card knowing I won't have the merchandise for many weeks because they're waiting for a shipment from the UK.
If I know that the goods are in stock I feel better ordering them. AND, I feel the merchant is more honest if they have a way to tell me up front that they're gonna take my cash but I won't have the goods for six to eight weeks.
I understand that's a tall techie order for a small business and that I'm way off my own topic here.
Guess the main thing I'd ask is a tad more honesty from some vendors - usually the ones that profess to offer everything and anything. Just tell me you don't have it, but can get it...and how long it should take.
I know USA Kilts ain't Soldier City or Amazon...it just REALLY nice to have a warning of a shipping delay before placing an order for anything...Scottish/Kilt related or otherwise.
Anyone who's followed the posts on this board for any length of time knows a lot of us pay up front for goods presented as ready to ship, then wait weeks or months for delivery.
I'm not saying I won't do that anyway. Doing it right now through Kathy Lare on a jacket from Lochcarron...but I know it won't be here until February...I made the decision knowing that.
Hope that answers your question...it ain't rocket science...same as you'd like from your suppliers.

I have ordered from them several times for various things and I am very happy with them. If you are looking for military related items, they are great.

Good luck, Sav. We can always use another good man in the services. I have to warn you though, they will make you wear trousers.

Alex, you are correct of course, but my comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek simply because a hoodie is just not the sort of garment I would ever wear anyway! I can just about get away with wearing a plain coloured fleece jacket, but I would be very uncomfortable in something like a hoodie. I 'do' casual, but not that casual! No, give me my leather bombers, tweed Argylls and Aran sweaters any day!!

I'm sure you are spot-on there, Ron. As I have just explained to Alex, hoodies are just not 'me'! I really do not think I could wear one so, if I did, I would certainly resemble someone else!!!!

I have to go with Hamish a bit here. I have worn a kilt with a hoodie and runners before, but only because I was at a 12 hour relay. It's just not a look I like for myself.

Apart from that, such garments just do not suit me!!
I often wear hoodies and I've never been turned away from a shop, and I usually go to the UK twice a year.
