    Christmas Kilt?

    Ok,

People I work with were disappointed that I did not wear my kilt for Saint Andrews Day. So our company Holiday Celebration Luncheon is on Friday. I am planning on wearing the following...

As you can see I am not in it yet!. No one to take the picture. The kilt jacketilt jacket is one that I just finished converting from a tux jacket that I bought for $5.00. I sewed round buttons on, that I found and liked.

I think will also switch the buttons on the vest.

I also have a day sporran, but I think I will wear my dress sporran, it brown fur with, 3 tassels and a silver canticle.
    Any comments would be apprecitated.

I hope to have some pictures to share of me at the Luncheon.

I'm no expert on formal attire and what-not. But I think it looks freakin' awesome!

    It does look very nice.

With a PC style jacket you are giving a VERY formal appearance. If your Christmas Luncheon is anything like ours, you will be WAY over-dressed. That's OK, but if you are going to take it to that level, it needs to be done appropriately. That being said.

Is your Day sporran Black? If so, I'd opt for the black sporran and match it with some black shoes and hose.

Hose can get by with cream but to balance the outfit I'd go with black or Green to match the kilt.

You may consider dressing it down and only wear the vest. Without silver buttons it will give a dressy but casual appearance and eliminate the need to formailse many of the other features.

If you want to wear the brown sporran, I'd opt for a brownish sweater to help tie the sporran to the outfit. Add brown shoes and you'll look great.

    Just my opinioin.

I love seeing the NYC tartan! I have a 5 yard NYC that I love dearly - it's a very special tartan to me.

I am inept at dressing formally, so I have nothing to offer there, just wanted to say good on you for the choice of tartan.

    mexpiper,

It looks pretty good. I look forward to seeing how your jacket comes out after you finish the buttons. I advise replacing the vest buttons as well. I just had a similar jacket converted and with the help of some X Markers got my formal look sorted out. Here's the thread:

Have fun at your company Christmas Party!

Thats how I got the idea. I looked at your post!
I thought that there was mention somewhere on her on how to actually shorten the tux with tails. I looked at your picture and figured that the cut off the tails where your hands where in your picture, showing the back!!

I cheated and sewed the tails up, with out cutting it (yet). It took about 4 hours hand sewing and replacing the buttons. Tonight is the vest!

Thanks everyone for the comments. i do plan on wearing black hose.

Here's a picture of a Prince Charlie waistcoat, perhaps it useful when you alter yours (it has 3 small buttons)

    Good luck!

    Greetings of the Season!
I have attached my picture,of what I wore to work on Friday. The response was freaking fantastic... alot of compliments, and numerous questions about the tartan.

    Feliz Navidad!
