When it comes to weird sizes, try a 14 AA!

Of course, for brogues, I pass with a medium width and wear thick socks.

The only comment I would make on those converse "brogues", is to try and tie them like proper ghillies. Nick form the Kiltstore goes into it in his ebook. I also found this at

The ghillie brogues should be laced up as follows: http://www.mccallsltd.com/mall/highl...hireFrames.htm

Start off in the usual shoe tying manner by crossing the two laces and pulling tight.
Holding this foundation, criss/cross (twist) the laces four times and pull tight
(this will produce a vertical thong of approximately 1").
Cross the laces around the back of the ankle, bringing both laces back round to the front.
Tie in a normal bow, at the front or to the outside of the ankle, leaving remaining lace and tassle to dangle.

I have a pair of regular Crocs. I LOVE them. They're by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. They're really light weight and good for your back. I wear mine all the time, except when I have a kilt on. They're a kinda bluish-greenish off looking color (It was the only color they had in my size when I got them) which looks a bit off to me when I have a kilt on. I'm planning on getting a pair of black ones that would look OK in kilt hose, and match my black leather belt and sporran, so I can wear them with my kilts. They're a great shoe and seem to hold up quite nicely. My first pair I had for must have been 8 months, using them daily, before the finally started to wear out.

Its a lot of hassle for some folks to cut out the tongue, find the bootlaces....maybe you should offer up some "ready mades" and rake in the dough.

I think your look might be a hit with the "grunge kilt" folks too.

That would be great and all, but I'm not sure how kindly Converse would be to me reselling their shoes after I mutilate them...

    Check out this site:

She custom makes both ghillies and the 18th century buckle shoes both which look great with the kilt!

    THANKS Hylander!

Your first post is GOLD! Welcome aboard.

I've been looking for a way to get ghillies for my WIDE feet for years...and here they are at a more than fair price from a craftslady.

As soon as I find a way to get all the drool and slobber wiped up off my keyboard I'll probably be ordering up from the lady.
