Hamish is right - steamed sprouts given a quick saute in butter with some chopped chestnuts are wonderful.

But others are correct in that sprouts boiled till they're limp and grey are awful - but then *any* vegetable boiled until limp is awful!

    Best regards

    I love sprouts!

It's a lovely "winter vegetable"...don't overcook them...buy them fresh! smaller sprouts have more and a nicer taste as the big ones.

a bit of (sea)salt and freshly grinded nutmeg after cooking...delicious!

I was one in the other thread that stated I dislike brussels sprouts but come to think of it I've not had them since I was a kid and they were always cooked to death. (To this day my Mum boils string beans for three hours until "done".)

Since I love all green veggies except asparagus (who could like it when it's boiled into green slime?) perhaps I'll have to get some and try steaming with a bit of butter and garlic.

This thread is making me hungry.

I guess I am in this boat as well. Growing up with mother that could only fry and boil let me to the road of beef and potatoes. My wife got me eating brocolli recently and maybe now it's time to try the sprouts... Hmmm, a run to the farmers market today might be in order....

I never met a sprout I didn't like. Veggies should be dropped into boiling, salted water and left until three to five minutes after the water returns to a boil and served, any more than that and they're ROONT!

    Chris.

    Chris.
    Um, no.

Veggies of all shapes and sizes do not belong in a bath of boiling water. They need to be dropped in to a smoking hot cast iron wok with a bit of peanut oil and stir fried. Flash fried. Add various sauces and or seasonings.

    Mmmm!!!
