I never met a sprout I didn't like. Veggies should be dropped into boiling, salted water and left until three to five minutes after the water returns to a boil and served, any more than that and they're ROONT!

I've been unable to overcome childhood trauma enough to try them again now that I'm married to a great cook and can actually do a few things in the kitchen myself (like not burn the water!).

Chris.
Um, no.
Veggies of all shapes and sizes do not belong in a bath of boiling water. They need to be dropped in to a smoking hot cast iron wok with a bit of peanut oil and stir fried. Flash fried. Add various sauces and or seasonings.
Mmmm!!!

De gustibus non disputandum est.
There is a wonderful old quote: "Some men eat to live. I live to eat!" Sprouts with a little melted cheese, MMMMMMM!

I've always thought there was something 'wrong' with me, I love sprouts, spinach, and just about all vegetables except asparagus, which to me just tastes 'off'. I am finding that if I roast asparagus it isn't too bad. Any way I think my love of veggies stems from my grandfather, who I adored, grew some many different varieties in his garden and would take me on tasting adventures as if on a far off safari. Of course my grandmother and mother just never cooked them to mush. Occasionally my local mega mart will carry a complete stack of brussel sprouts, there is nothing like walking through the check out dressed in a kilt with a nice long stalk of sprouts - except maybe eating them later.

JackK,
I like asparagus sauteed in toasted sesame oil, hoisin sauce, a little garlic, and some toasted sesame seeds - it's quite good!

Actually, they do this with green beans at my local Chinese and Sushi restaurant and it totally rocks...the beans have become a standard "must order" item whenever we go.

I have not ever been a big fan of sprouts. I will eat them if I am a guest but again its not my choice veggie. Asparagus is what I love. I will either steam it with a light seasoning of sea salt, pepper and a tiny bit of garlic then toss with butter or serve with hollandaise or I will brush it with olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and pop it on the grill. Oh yeah, thats the best.

I loved them as a kid and I still love them to this day. I have always like the stronger veggies like sprouts, asparagus, broccolli, cabbage, turnips, beets, etc. but can't stand tomatoes or onions (love the flavouring, hate the texture). My Christams dinner was lacking just that special touch without the brussel sprouts this year. Still a fabulous meal, but it would have been improved just that much more with sprouts. No bother, I have them all the time anyway
