Dressed to kilt (#2)
Well gents, some of you may remeber me, some may not (I posted in the newcomer section a wee bit ago). But moving on, I'm very pleased to inform you that I finally have a Kilt!
Thanks to the kindness of my brother (who happens to be an excellent tailor) who took some time aside to make me a kilt. We also made a day plaid that I frilled all the edges on (goodness was that a task). All in all I'm very pleased with how everything turned out and couldn't wait to get some pictures up. We made it the week before Christmas and had it ready for Christmas day, which turned out to be very good because My brother and I received sporrans!
We purchased the fabric at our local fabric store where interestingly enough the saleswoman got into a small conversation with us about what we were using it for. Which I thought rather humorous as people were asking about my kilt before I had even made it!
My brother also made a kilt the same week as mine. You can see it in the thread he posted, I thought it turned out very nicely and am eager to try them out to town. So far we havn't gone outside with them
But anyhoo, on to the pics!
Here I am with my new Sporran, day plaid and kilt
A shot of the pleats (the camera really doesn't do them justice)
Displaying the lovely flow of the pleats
Here we have my lovely Sporran (I'm a sucker for formal dress)
Yes I'm actually learning to play the pipes, Thought not past the point of using anything but a chanter by far
And of course, giving a try at the Hamish pose
And finally, my brother and I (he also has a topic with more pictures of him here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=23353)
Well I hope you all enjoyed, comments and compliments welcome!
And a happy new year to all!

Please, please, please spend the money to upgrade from soccer socks to kilt hose. The kilt looks awesome, but the see-through socks detract, in my opinion. I know $20 can seem like a lot to spend on socks, but it's well worth it. I only have a few pair myself, and I rotate them and re-wear them between washes, but then again I do have a hiker's mentality about what "clean" means.
Andrew.

A very smart rigout there. How lucky you are to have a brother who has talent as a kilt maker.
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.
