Oh My, Oh My. A day to remember
This morning started out much like many other Sundays. I was getting ready to leave for the museum when Bobbie reminded me to pick up the package that was at the post office. I have been expecting some fabric and some belt buckles so thought that is what was waiting for me.
But to my suprise I find ----wait for it-----
An authentic Barb Tewksbury. 16 oz. Locharran in the Highland Granite Tartan.
I was shaking as I accepted the package from the clerk.
You may remember that Barb offered this kilt to the X Marks membership a few weeks ago. I immediatly called her as the kilt was in my size and I have wanted a Highland Granite from Barb since the first day she posted pics of the one she did for her prospective son-in-law.
I now am the proud owner of that very kilt.
I'll post some photos as soon as my hands stop shaking.
If a new kilt were not enough I had put in a bid two days ago on E-Bay for a book. Bobbie and I were across from the shop attending a New Years party and all evening I'm getting up and going to check how the bidding was going.
I won't be sleeping at all tonight because I am the new owner of a First Edition - autographed - copy of Robert Heinleins "Stranger in a Strange Land"
If 2007 continues the way 2006 ended I may have a heart attack before Robbie Burns day.
I just had to share this with all of you.

I'm jealous of the new kilt. But being a lifelong RAH fan, I'm absolutely blubbering jealous over the first edition of Stranger. I've got a couple of older RAH's myself, but nothing approaching your new find. Please, feel free to e-mail me a pic of the book (for drooling purposes, naturally), but above all, enjoy.

wonderful
Steve,
After seeing your xmarks kilt with pockets and meeting Barb the same day, it is wonderful that you own one of her kilts. The two of you are wonderful people as well as kilt makers. I am pretty sure I saw the kilt you now own at the Philly kilt night and you are a lucky man. I just got Barb's book for christmas and I hope to be able to make a kilt half as well as you and Barb do.
I hope that my 2007 includes a kilt from you, and 2008 includes one made by Barb, i will make one from her book this year.
Hope the kilt brings you a smile each time you wear it.

Well, well. Who says Christmas is for kids? Enjoy! I think it was me who said "Good things come to those who do good." You definitely qualify!

Highland Granite is definitely on my list.
You are very fortunate, Steve.
Been a long time since I read Stranger in a Strange Land, although that is how I feel sometimes working here in Germany. Congratulations on your find.
Happy New Year to you and your family and team!
