Sweet! I've only ridden bareback, how does the saddle feel with the kilt?

Can't remember where I got the maroon hose Bradley. Think I snapped them up on sale at a highland games somewhere. They're not the Lewis hose that Matt sells. The light blue ones are. I have a pair of the light blue and a pair of navy Lewis hose, but no maroon.
Thinking about the purple ones to go with my two on order kilts, the USA Kilts Warrior casual and the Isle of Skye that Kathy Lare is sewing up.
I was taught to ride in college (1962) by a former U.S. Army Cavalry officer. We didn't get saddles for six weeks, until we'd learned to sit a horse. Its been a loooong time since I rode and probably an extra hundred pounds. I was most worried about mounting the horse in the wind and having the kilt fly up. But it didn't. I found sitting on the 16 ounce wool material quite comfortable actually.

Envious? Of course!!
That sunshine looks great. We still have another week or so before the sun is back in my neck of the eh, woods. Haven't seen the sun (despite days of clear skies) since November.
Nice pictures; I always enjoy seing those tartans, faces and places behind the nicknames.

Great pictures as always Ron. I really like the scenery you chose, just excellent.
I own two horses, a quarterhorse gelding and a paint mare, I have never ridden them bareback I am sure my old quarterhorse would not accept it anyway.

Great pictures and beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing.
I gave up saddles years ago and only ever ride bareback (though it has been a while since I've ridden). I've always wanted to ride in a kilt, and I will definately do it when I get my own horses.

Ron,
Thanks for the pics - it looks like you'e anwswered most of our questions about horseback riding kilted. Simply let the aprons be swept under you as you mount, and tuck enough of the back underneath you to avoid imitating a calvary pennant as you ride.
But if the aprons were underneath you, how did you keep from sitting on your kilt pin?

Those are very nice pictures. I imagine we are all jealous of the "whole ninie yards," kilt, hose, scenery, and ride.
I never see or think of Monument Valley without thinking of the great Johna Ford pictures with John Wayne filmed there. Never thought of riding there kilted, but now I have a new things I gotta do before I die.
