sorry Steve, I did not make these as XKilts. The first one, seen below, is a knife pleated to the sett (that's how it turned out, not how I planned it). I just split the cloth in half, left enough for an overapron, and began playing with different pleating. For a kitl this small, you can pleat up the whole thing in about 10-30 minutes by using the tartan lines to line it up. But oboy do pleats eat up fabric! I thought a yard would be plenty for my daughters, but I had to splice together a section for the first one.
