Can somebody tell me about their kilts, specifically the Gordon? I'm really tempted by the super-heavy weight wool. How do they feel? Are the colors bright? Are the straps and buckles good? How deep are the pleats? Any info would be good.

I've got a Gordon from WPG, and I mostly like it. The buckles are two-pronged and the leather stiff; I replaced them with a set from SWK. The material is very heavy, and feels good. The pleats are cut out at the back. My main objection is that the first pleat (after the apron) isn't as deep as I'd like, this makes the kilt want to ride up some when you sit down. I like a kilt as "activewear" so I don't wear the WPG Gordon as much as I otherwise would. Well, that and it's rarely really cold in Houston . . .

My WPG Gordon is a great, heavy kilt. And I emphasize heavy. In your neck of the woods, that's a big plus. In the South, it gets a little warm in summers. Last June, even at Gatlinburg, TN, I was a bit warm one evening when it was not as cool as usual in the mountains.

It's not as exquisitely made as my custom kilts--like Kid noted--but it's very well made. It'll probably outlive us all. At least it's not likely to wear out.

I recommend them highly. Can't beat the price for a full heavy kilt. They look good, too. Just remember that they are meant to be worn high, well above the navel in traditional military fashion, not at the "natural waist." I think that may help keep them from riding up.

Are the colors good? In the photo, they look really dark and faded.

I purchased a WPG Gordon, in October. Quite happy with it.
t is a heavyweight, for sure.
Great value for the money - and the service was friendly and efficient.

I think I may look at replacing the straps and buckles, too, though.

It's a great garment for the wintry weather we (used to) get here in Eastern Ontario, Canada.

Don't overlook the battlejackets and War 1 replica jacket that WPG offers. They go well with kilts.

Sorry, no clue about the color in the kilts...I'm too fat to wear a high kilt...

I find the colors to be fine. They are darker than some more modern kilts I guess, but I've seen other modern kilts (like one of mine which is custom made) in which you could hardly make out all the different shadings. IN fact, until I bought a weathered version of the same kilt, I had no idea that there were extra little lines there.

The photos do not do them justice, and I have found that seeing kilts laid out--as WPG does on their site--does not make a kilt look its best. Once I got mine, I was elated with the quality, look, and fit.

Ditto the info about the straps and buckles. I've spent five minutes trying to get the d**ned thing buckled before. They need some work, but it's still a good deal for the money. I plan to give mine a little treatment of some sort, even if that means replacing them.

The straps get mor flexable with use and with a bit of practice the two prong buckles aren't any more difficult than the usual single prong. The only change I made to my WPG Cameron was I covered the bright green band with black bias tape. I just did NOT like the looks of that green band.

Another question: anybody know where I can find a 2.25" wide casual kilt belt? One that doesn't require a buckle.
