    I tried to figure out how to travel from Prestwick Airport to Dumfries by train...what a nightmare! I rented a car

    Should be straightforward unless you are arriving at Prestwick late at night. Take a Carlisle or Newcastle train direct from Prestwick Airport to Dumfries. Or take a Kilmarnock or Glasgow via Kilmarnock train to Kilmarnock and change trains at Kilmarnock.

    Even I have figured out how to get from Glasgow to Dumfries via train.

    Prestwick can't be that much harder.

    Of course with all the stuff I intend David to buy me at Anderson's I may need a car and FedEX to get it home.

    I was there in September, and they also had a fair selection of brand new off-the-rack kilts. That is where I got my 16 oz Irish National from House of Edgar at 50% off - and fits like made-to-measure
