Nothing against your mother, I don't know her but at least my mom knows what a bloody kilt is!
Who cares what they think if you wish to wear a kilt about yer legs then "rock on".

Oh intend to. I hope.
The disaster she saw the other day was a goth with a kilt that was way too long. The time before that I know of was one of her graphic design teachers who took them to a fashion show, but he wore a full-length leather skirt. :-/

Remember, anyone can wear a pair of pants. It takes a man to wear a kilt!
I think 'odd' is a tame word. Mum said I'd be considered quite strange for wearing a kilt as everyday wear.

It's the Be Yourself I'm trying to grasp. It was largely the squashing of that that led to my marriage falling apart. I was getting very confused because I couldn't quite Be Myself and also be what she thought I should be. Now I'm understanding Me a little better (thanks to my counsellor) and I want to Live a little as a result.

But..mother and sister, surely they see you as a grown man who now wants to experience the freedom of wearing the kilt?
Mum has Scottish ancestry, and knows a little about traditional kilt-wearing. In Australia, that means Highland Games and the like. I think that's making the situation harder.
They both know I wear a short skirt to bed instead of boxers, yet have chosen not to make an issue of it. I want to transfer that comfort to day wear.
Just do it mate, that's my advice
Where are you getting your kilt from?
I ordered a Standard in Snow Camo from NeoKilt. If I decide to get one sooner, I'll buy a Mocker from Utilikilt.
