How we came to this concept... a friend / customer of ours ordered a grey tweed jacket and vest. When it came in, Kelly LOVED it and INSISTED that I get one for myself (who am I to say no?), so I ordered it.

While it was on order, she asked if I was going to make a matching kilt for the jacket to make it a complete outfit. I thought it sounded like a GREAT idea and the "Solid 5 yarder" and Solid Smi Trads were born (yes, we're going to make our Semi Trad in solid PV too...).

Even without the solid kilt, the tweed day jackets are VERY classy. If you just rock the vest with a white button down (no tie... sleeves rolled up) and a kilt, you have the "GQ kilt" look.

Last time I was at Rocky's I got a sneak peak of the coat and the kilt, I didn't want to say anything until now, because it isn't my place to start rumors. The jacket and kilt is amazing the care taken to make sure that the kilt matches the jacket perfectly is incredible. The kilt is Rocky's normal perfection, and the weight of the fabric is very nice. I know this will do well for them. You know for those guys that like perfect kilts that are done with such care.

And, of course slobbering on the keyboard over the new stuff coming soon...

    New Army Blue Dress Uniform

There was an article in the Stars and Stripes a while back that said the Army was going away from the green uniform back to a blue uniform similar in color to what was worn many years ago. Somewhat you might see in an old John Wayne cavalry movie. I'll have to see if I can find the pics.
This may be an opportunity for a NEW Army Blue tartan for all the designers out there.

Anyone else see information on this change in uniform?

    Shut ... your ... mouth.

I just put in my order for a kilt in US Army tartan yesterday. I DON'T want it obsolete before it even gets to me.

There is, I'm pretty sure, a US Army Dress Blue uniform. But it's formal-formal, moreso than the dress green.

Hey, Ugly Bear, then you could just tell people about the "Green Tartan" Army, like they used to talk about the "Brown Shoe" Army!
