    Tartan scarf with black kilt?

A question, what do you think if I wear Hunting McLeod scarf with my black shadow tartan SWK? It is not as if I'm really mixing tartans.

With an oatmeal shirt! Or, heck, whatever you like. I think it'd look good.

NO PROBLEM! Before I got kilted and many years ago, I wore a blue and white checked jacket with a blue and white western shirt. It's what made my wife marry me!! She could see I needed help!!

I often wear a tartan shirt or vest with a solid color kilt. That "tartan" is pretty close to solid color, particularly indoors.

I'm with the "go for it" crew. Traditional dress is fine, but its also fun to explore the fringes of kilt fashion. Some pretty incredible looks have evolved.

    Grant,

The question is "how are these tied together in the outfit?"

I happen to be be wearing my SWK Hunting Mcleod kilt at the moment.

The tartan is green with a yellow thin stripe and a red thin stripe.

You wish to pair that with black, fine, no worries.

    The questions really are...

What shirt will you be wearing? Green? Black? Or perhaps a neutral color?

How about your hose? Are you going to match them to the kilt, the scarf, or the shirt?

If I was going to wear these, this is how I would go about it.

Black kilt, black leather accessories and shoes, off white hose, hunting Mcleod flashes (if not then at least solid green, red, or yellow ones), and shirt either off white, yellow, or red.

    Voila', a coordinated outfit.

    Hope this is of help.

    Cheers

I think that will look fine, just remember what Panache has to say about co-ordinating, its good advice. Wear it on Burns night, and I promise I wont laugh.
