I will always have a soft spot for Stillwater Kilts - my first kilt was a standard Black Watch from Jerry. Like many others, Stillwater was my entry into kilt wearing. Today my taste runs more to wool tartan kilts - so I look forward to seeing any additions his wool line-up.

I have always been satisified with Stillwater. Definitely a good kilt for a very good price. The pics are very sharp, Panache. But then, I don't know if I've ever seen a picture of you on here where you don't look sharp.

The ONLY problem I’ve had with Stillwater Kilts is the left edge of the apron. It is folded straight down and this causes it to swing out a little. I fixed this by steaming and ironing it so the apron it wider at the bottom. The right side is already cut wider at the bottom, so now it's even.

Here's a question I hope you don't mind me asking Panache....how tall are you? I remember Ron saying he hadn't bought from Stillwater because of the long length.
I've never met either of you gents in real life, but in my minds eye I picture Ron as tall as you.
I'm only about 5'7" so I'm wondering if a Still water would be way to long for me??
I guessing too that overall height may not be as much of a factor as leg length.

That's basically it. Ron is (if I remember correctly) something like 6', but the SWK is too long for him. I on the other hand am only 5'9", but I can get away with wearing one (it is about 1/2" too long).

    Panache,
The kilt looks great! I have two Utilikilts that I wear as often as I can. It is too cold now. I have already decided to buy my next kilt from Stillwater. I will be doing what you did, buying the whole thing; kilt, sporran, flashes, etc. I have Fletcher in my ancestry, but it is cost prohibitive to get a kilt in that tartan. I like the Black Stewart and cannot wait to get it.
As a side note, do brown leathers look good with a Black Stewart?

I am short and stumpy, and I was able to pull off the 24 inch drop alright.

Was being the key word. Have since lost an inch of hight, and the kilt hangs past the bottom of my kneecap now.

Really really REALLY want a 22 inch drop on Stillwater.
