David, it should take around an hour and a half from Prestwick Airport to Dumfries by car depending on the weather. Dee, Patrick, Robertson, I'll probably be over at Dumfries a bit earlier on Friday (around 12 or 1). If weather's reasonable I'm thinking of a quick visit to Caerlaverock Castle first then coming over to Ferintosh mid-afternoon unless you have other plans for me.

As Alex said about 1 1/2 hrs find the A77- then the A70, up to the A76, This will take you to Dumfries--Head or ask directions for the Railway station, Ferintosh is directly opposite the Station. Watch out for Speed camera's around the Airport as they are a few. hope this helps. See you soon

Anne-Lise and I can't promise to be with everybody all the time - this is our first get-away alone together since Sebastian was born 7 years ago... So we'll prpobably sneak out alone to get that kidless-and-just-the-two-of-us feeling...

Entirely the right thing to do, Patrick. Ann and I don't get out much together because of her limited mobility, so I'd expect she'll be key to whatever I do around Dumfries on Saturday before the Burns supper actually starts. She may want me to take her around the town centre shops, as there is much better shopping in Dumfries than we have here in rural Hawick.
