Xmarks members in Chicago?
Hello,
Any fellow Xmarks members living in the Chicago area? If so, maybe we should plan a get together somewhere. I'm not too fond of smokey bars but for a night out with fellow kilt wearers it'd be worth it.

Well, there's me...and there was KCW until he moved down to Florida...I believe that there were a couple of more guys in some of the far-flung suburbs. Thus far, the only two X'smarksers that I've ever had a chance to meet have been KCW and Turpin when he had occasion to come through Chicago. I'm way down on the extreme South Side of town. It's been a running joke of mine that if we held an Xsmarks kilt night in Chicago we coould hold it in a phone booth.

ps....thanks to City Councils everywhere, there aren't any more smoky bars left...and you can forget about the pate de foi gras.

I thought the smoking ban hadn't gone into effect yet. As for foie gras - I don't even like pate - yech! Tastes like some nasty dog food or something that's already been chewed and spat out by someone else. NAAAS-TEEE!! Needless to say I don't miss the stuff. Well, as for a kilted night it seems it would be pretty small. I myself live in Hyde Park so I don't know if that's as far south or are you farther?

Well, I no longer live there, but I am still based in Chicago from a work perspective and so get back every so often. Next time I am in town I will post a message and see if we can get together. I also saw another note recently from KenNYG (I believe), who is also in the Windy City....

Kilted Zookeeper,
yeah...I'm over on the extreme South West side of the city...Beverly. You're over in Hyde Park and my son is over there at the U of C. If he should spot you running around kilted, I'm sure that he'd say something though he's not at all a kilt proponent...in fact he appears to consider it a downright embarassment to e seen with his kilted father. I'm sure he'd say something like, "...hey, dad, I saw another guy in a kilt the other day...I guess that that makes TWO of you in the entire city...".
I'm seeing that we might actually have three or four Xsmarksers listing their location as Chicago. We should try to get a group together...I've been trying to go check out The Duke of Perth on North Clark Street but it's difficult to get a whole lot of time to get up that way.
Now if we know that KCW is going to be back in town on business, we will definitely have an excuse...but let's see how it goes...the way the weather is looking right now, if we had a kilt night we'd have to have it in an igloo.

Zookeeper, I live in Southern Wisconsin and come to Chicago a bit. Check out my parade schedule for March and see if you'll be able to come to any of those events!
