Sock garters
I am looking for the garters like the ones with the metal clips that came with my sportkilt flashes. I like the metal clips much better than the velcro since they are not just adjustable but they won't tear up good kilt hose. All the ones I have been able to find are the type that are used to wrap around the leg above the socks and clip onto the socks to hold them up(liike for men's dresswear with pants) Anyone have any ideas where to get such a thing...I want to make my own flashes.
Thanks
John

In my own, personal, flashes (Not the "up kilt" type ), I use elastic measured off going around the leg and cut to size. I then use the clip designed for the bra of a female bikini:
I then make the flashes themselves and slid them on.
The advantage is it lies very flat on the leg. It is also VERY easy to make. I have made 5 sets of them (largely when I can't find my other ones) and they take only a few minutes to make.
The disadvantage is that they are not adjustable. If made too long, they can always be shortened by snipping and making a new loop for the hook. If too short, trash/give away and try again.

Our standard garter flashes are made with a metal clip and an adjustable elastic band. Very high quality.

Both of those are good options....I am experimenting with making some leather flashes . I just hate to use velcro that might mess up good kilt hose.
Matt I am likely going to order a pair of the traditional ties soon also. Mcwage I will look for those this weekend.
Thanks guys

Do the garters need to have any type of fastener? Why not just cut the elastic a little longer than needed, overlap the ends, and stitch together? Then they can just be pulled on over the calf.

I have considered that as well. That may just be the easy answer I was overlooking. I always tend to overcomplicate things.
