Well, you can always sell the UK kilt in the for sale forum here, and probably recover most of your cost.
Most of these "hip hugger" kilts have about a 10% taper. Ball park figure mind you. That said, cinching the kilt tight around a waist narrower than your hips will make the pleats flare out in weird and crazy ways, the fell, which may not be sewn down on some will rumple and twist, and your aprons will pucker up tighter than Don Knots sucking lemons.
If you are a gentleman of substance, I recommend you speak with Robert at RKilts or Steve at Freedom Kilts about an actual fitted kilt. It is not much more than a UK in cost, and you will get a kilt that sits where YOU want it with all of the right measurements.
