Ive been to the west many times and it is a very different type of heat from Florida. While you can watch a glass of water evaporate there, we can watch one fill all on its own here. I have a Sportkilt already. Is the fabric similar to the Standard SWK? The Sportkilt is comfortable here in the summer so if they are similar than I will likely go with that.

Great example!
I've lived on both in the deep hot muggy damp south and the hotter than you-know-where desert southwest.
Don't overlook USA Kilts casuals. For me, they're cooler than my SportKilts in summer and better quality and better looking for near or less than the price of a SportKilt depending on options.

I'd have to agree with Riverkilt, don't overlook USA Kilts. I live in the deep south in a very humid area. There's no way I can wear my SWK in the summer. But my semi-trad from USAK is great. I can only imagine how nice their casual would feel. And they look great, worth every penny.
Also PiobBear made a good point, kilt hose make a difference.

I have an idea that one day I'd like to make in to a working prototype... Using the right fabrics and design, I believe I could make a kilt that would feel up to 10 degrees cooler under it than the current ambient outside temp.
No, I have no plans to explain how this would work.

I wear a USAK Casual kilt here in Florida during the summer. Wearing hose pushed down with boots is also a good idea when its hot.

Hmm, I'm at a loss for what I want. For $100 I can get a USA-K casual in Clark or the USMC standard SWK for $80. $220 for the Semi Trad USA-K is too much for me. Ill probably end up with the SWK.

Bear in mind, although I love my swk, it does have a 24" length and for many this is to long. I'm 5'11" and I would be better off with a 23". Saying that swk do have an excellent product. In short yourself measure carefully.

In the hot hot heat, go with the USAK!
Seriously, acrylic BAD in the heat. Terrible thermal properties. Moisture is slow to evaporate and airflow is restricted, so you wind up with heat and humidity.
PV has spooky fast evaporation rates and darn good air flow qualities, meaning that moisture evaps quicker, meaning that you feel cooler.
On the 120 degree Real Feel days where I live, all I wear is my USAK. Anything else is unbearable.

It's not the kilt...but the hose.
It's been mentioned before.
I can get away with hose in the winter months...but starting May thru Sept. It's soccer socks or something made with Cool Max weave.
I worked a concert last summer wearing my UK all day and didn't notice how hot and humid it was. 98' or something like that.
I'm looking to get a lighter color for the upcoming summer. A tan or off white.
