I think the idea is a universal tartan, not one already associated with a specific law enforcement agency.

Count me in! I've been in blue for 6 1/2 now and would absolutely be in the market.

Yeah I actually realised that. I was just pointing it out as an example of one of many.

Hopefully all this interest and attention has garnered a kiltmaker's attention.

It's not a kiltmakers attention you need to catch.

Get all the LEO's here to design a tartan. Then find someone to weave it.

Any kiltmaker may then order the fabric and get to sewing.

Very few kiltmakers I know have the funds sitting around to take on both the design, weaving, inventoring, and kiltmaking duties. Plus, it's not the kiltmaker who should do the design, it's you former officers.

There are a few on-line computer generated Tartan makers and with a little time in front of the screen someone should be able to come up with three or four ideas that can be posted here for you all to vote on.

There are many choices available to you for having the fabric woven.
Matt has a source that will do single kilt lengths. I have Fraser & Kirkbright just across the water in Vancouver. You could also approach any mill for the weaving depending on how much fabric you will need for how many kilts.

So, first thing to do if you really want this Tartan is to design one.
Then get firm, (money in hand) commitments for the cost of weaving and kiltmaking.

    I wear the kilt because:

There is a company called Blackington that makes badges. They can make miniature badges that wouldn't be too heavy. They are even reasonably priced. You can Google the name. Sorry that I don't have the link.

How about a nice black, it'll go with just about everyones uniform. Priced right for all of us "thrifty" scots as well Leaves money for lattes and such, speaking of which, I think that enough frost has melted now that I can ride up to Starbucks for one before it's time for unit training.....
