One must not make a trip like that with out ones spouse! My wife and I enjoyed our time there two years ago! We are now planning our next for next year.... We will likely travel in august to catch the Tattoo and then head up to aberdeen and the highlands... (genealogy trip, you understand... Right)

Yeah, that's for sure. We're going to do something in a couplr weeks, but I don't know if we can swing that trip on such short notice.

But there, I want to investigate the highlands more than I have in the past. If I do make it, I'll plan to meet Cessna at least in Glasgow, and I want to do some things in E'burgh, then bounce up to Stirling and see the Robertson museum in Pitlochery. Inverness would be the next stop.

I know it'll be chilly, but I wouldn't let that stop me.

Thanks for the comments and advice.

Go for it! If we can plan a trip over there with 2 young daughters, a dog, 4 cats, and the wife nursing a severe sprain in 3 weeks, you should be able to as well! You only live once, and the only things in life you will regret later are the opportunities you passed up.

    Take this chance!!
We've been to Scotland quite some times (even on our honeymoon) and it is fantastic!
Besides Robertson we know of a really cool place to stay, just above Loch Lomond, great food there...
And you can get a real good look at the highlands within a week, if you have a car.
I hope you will manage to go, and enjoy your trip!

I saw quite a few amazing and beautiful things while I was there for two weeks back in 1998 (been way too long!). The best day was when my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I took the car and drove east from Inverness over to Nairn and Elgin, then down south for awhile, making a big loop back to Inverness. We stopped to see anything that piqued our interest (which was quite a lot). Highlights include the ruins of Auchindon castle, and Clava Cairns. I highly recommend that you go!
