Schottland in Nurnberg?
Although my German is at best poor, I "read" an article in the Nurnberg paper a couple of days ago about a Burns Night Supper, which I think occurred in one of the larger hotels in the area.
It seemed to be a joint effort of the Nurnbergers and a band of Scots but I could not understand if they were local Scots or imported for the occassion .
Can anyone shed some light on this event?
I'd be Frumiously thankful .

expats...

I can't speak to the Nurnberg Burns Night specifically, but there are many expats Scots around the world working for companies to are members of local St. Andrew's Societies, as well as those who have immigrated to other nations. There is also a fairly large Burns Night in Munich, and the Munich Caledonians have a large expat contingent as well as locals who are members.
Many Burns Nights will bring in their entertainment from Scotland; My guid friend Chris Tait, who portrays Burns in his show, "Robert Burns Live!" travels every year around the globe to various Burns Suppers; in 2004 he came to Missouri, he goes to Russia frequently, and this year is performing at Burns Suppers in Indonesia and Singapore.
Cheers,
Todd

Hallo,
I did not noticed anything about it before but I found this via google.de :
http://www2.nuernberg.de/presse/mitt...sse_04545.html
General contend : Nürnberg has a partnership with glasgow and therfore they
make a scottish weekend every year in January, with scottish dance, pipe and drum and some officials from glasgow.
in 2006 it was the 8. „Ceilidh“.It is organized by the German office for international conections and the highlight must be the burns supper. It is held up in Grand Hotel in Nürnberg.

But for this year I could'nt find any event concerning "Glasgow meets Nürnberg" but the event calender only makes a forecast up to may, may be later. I don't know.
Here the report of the last meeting : http://www.partnerstaedte.nuernberg....chwort=Glasgow
Best regards
Günter

Thanks, Tattoobradley, I take that as a great compliment.
