Sadly, yes. And there is a very good chance that I will never see it. It was delivered Saturday, according to the mail slip in my tiny post box. It was susposed to have my signature signed for the box... But nope. They dumped it in the office. And when I turned in the slip to get my package... Well, no packages. And not a damn thing I can do. All because the stupid lazy effin mail man can't climb a single flight of stairs or use the bloody elevator. I bet my packages were not even dropped in the office, because security was away from the desk at the time... I bet he dropped a pile of packages at the office door and split. You can't do that here. People order packages filled with RX drugs like oxy-whatevers and other expensive drugs, and anything left unattended for a second is STOLEN! Somebody will greedily open up a box from Canada thinking they made a sweet sweet score of Canadian drugs, will see what they think is some skirt, and will probably ditch it in a dumpster some place later. The kilt pin will probably wind up hocked in some pawn shop.
Yay.

Well, Just dang.... That is sad! It seems that the USPS is getting worse by the month. I had a package come from Western Canada that was shipped on the 14th of Jan that is still not here..... One of the reasons I have quit using them for most things. I hope that your fears are not realized!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Dread,
I would get ahold of a postal inspector that kind of thing is a major no no! Sounds like willful neglect on the part of the mail carrier and there are major laws against that. Also, the "office" is liable for a major lawsuit for accepting postal property and not delivering. I am sure a lawyer could definately get them to walk a chalk line.

Sadly, the office has a no responsibility clause... People have already tried to hold them legally responsible for lost stuff. There is even a sign saying they have no responsibility for packages.
Second, I have no money for a lawyer.
Third, our last post man did deliver to the door. They are not obligated to do this in high rise residential dwellings, or so they say. The new guy we have, he's bad.

That is truely sad, if they are "not going to accept liability" then why do they accept them in the first place? Personally I don't know how far you are from your local post office but I would tell those knotheads that they are never to accept a package with your name on it and tell that dolt of a postman he is to never leave any package there with your name on it at that office unless your there to take it out of his clammy hands. I still think contacting the Postal Inspectors about this would be a good step.

I wonder if the USPS issues that some of you experience are not the result of your local Post office management.
I regularly send envelopes and small parcels to and from Scotland a couple times a week with zero issues. Four days is the transit time. I overlooked sending a Christmas card a year or two ago. I placed it in my own mailbox on 20 December, figuring it would arrive well after Christmas. It was delivered on 24 December. I've yet seen anything take longer than four days to make it across, in either direction.

Aye, Mike -- my grandfather worked for the US Post Office for almost 40 years, retiring as the Assistant Postmaster of our city. If someone is having this much trouble getting mail delivered, then ask to speak to the Postmaster -- not the manager of station, the Postmaster in charge of the entire operation in your city -- you don't need lawyer, and it doesn't cost anything. Postal Inspectors are another possibilty, especially if parcels are being stolen -- tampering with the mails is a federal offence.
Regards,
Todd

Many thanks from me too, Rob. My pin also arrived here in the United Kingdom this morning. I have to say that this one is a huge improvement on the first model (which I wear on my Balmoral bonnet) - the smaller size is more practical for a kilt pin and the fastening pins are SO much better, and hopefully more secure, than the original 'safety pin' style.

Everyone of my packages is opened by the Bartlett post office. I've complained, but it does no good. Postal employees can do what ever they like and get away with it. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that your mail carrier is the culprit for stolen packages. Even if you could get an inspector involved, nothing would ever come of it.
