Piper from Utah
I signed on a few days ago. I have received a nice welcome from several folks already and thank you.
My interest in kilts didn't actually begin until I was given one as a band member. My first love is the GHB (great highland bagpipe), but that naturally leads to an interest in kilts since people seem to enjoy them more when played by a kilted player. I enjoy wearing a kilt, but since the only one I have belongs to the pipe band and is the band's own unique tartan (Salt Lake Scots) I don't get to wear it very often. I decided to purchase a kilt, but found that the expense was a bit more than I was willing to bear at the time. Usually when that happens I start looking to making it myself.
I discovered this forum quite by accident, and came across a post about Mormons (of which I am one) and kilt wearing. I had to make a comment and so signed on. Since then I've found the site entertaining and informative.
I have found that a kiltmaking class will be coming to Utah in the near future and since I am an avid DIYer, I am trying to make arrangements to attend. I've already ordered a book on kilt making and whether I attend the course or not, I do plan on making my own kilt and kilts for my son and wife who are drummers. Should be fun and certainly a whole lot cheaper.

Welcome from Snellville, Georgia!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
