It has heated up to 23F now, but at 6AM it was 14F with a nice 20-25 mph breeze.

I was just wondering: what is the coldest temperature you guys have ever experienced? For me it was a January night in 1981 or 2 in Sheridan County Montana. -59F by my pretty decent thermometer and wind over 45 mph. My official US Army chill chart couldn't deal with it. The chill factor was greater than -120F (the chill charts have since been revised). I had heard that at super cold temperatures you can spit, if you dare expose your face, and it will freeze before it hits the ground. It's true.

We have just had a light dusting of snow here and heavier falls are now predicted within the next 24-36 hours.

I keep get asking if I'm cold in a kilt to which I have been able to answer in the negative so I will have to put this to the test if we do get a few inches!

The coldest temp I've ever experienced was -42C (-44F) while living in Winnipeg Manitoba, back in the mid 80's. The wind made it feel a whole lot colder than that, though.

As for kilting in the cold...my wife snapped these 2 pics tonight while I was grilling some steaks for supper. It's been about -12C (10F) here with freezing drizzle all day. I don't break out my heavy wool kilts unless it gets cold here.

    freedom lover,
I think I was in Riverton that same winter! About -50 but there was only a 2-3 mph wind there. That is onough at those temps.

Hmmmm. Trying to remember if that was the same year I was skiing at Snowbird in -60F windchill.
