ccga3359,
You mean you've never heard of haggis fights?
When two highlanders enter the ceremonial stone circle, and let loose their fighting haggi upon the other, while pipers play piobaireached to the tempo of the bodhran?
It is true, in more decades years the scarcity of any haggi, especially the trained "pit haggi," has forced substituitions of course.
But frankly, West Highland Terriers just don't possess the same level of ceremony and savage dignity.

It's not just the scarcity of fighting haggi, like other blood sports such as cock fighting it's now totally illegal.

Yes, but for the real fans, the sport has migrated (along with kilt production) to other parts of the world. You should see the fighting Paratha in Punjab! It's not QUITE as good as the fighting haggi, but then you'd expect that.
It just really bothers me that the bouts are so often advertised as to make the casual, uninformed touron believe he or she is seeing an actual haggis death match!!!
'tis enough to make a strong man's blood run cold, it is...

Don't tell me - the phrase "Conceived in Scotland" as opposed to "Bred in Scotland" appears on the ads!

yes but here we use only specially trained and bred Haggi at least that's what the sign outside the barn said, but I think ours are a lost race of haggi accustomed to eating green chilie and running at each other backwards to use their chilie induced fires on each other.

Fighting Haggis is a blood sport that should and will be :blue_ban: ed. These poor creatures were raised for sporron output not to curb your appetite for blood lust! Shame on you all who place more than five quid on this horrific "sport".

Not here in New Mexico, we will allow any kind of fight that has room for betting
To add more midevil tradition to there is always luanching the Haggi with trebucheas at each others homes until the neighbors demand peace.
