I WANT my sporran to tappity tap tap when I walk.

It reminds me that I walk to the sound of my own drum.

I think part of the reason I can't handle the noise is because of my adult ADD. I can't pay attention to too many things at once, and the rattling can be quite distracting.

Another option to consider is to replace the tassels it came with for small horse hair tassels.

I did this on my Buzz Kidders and think it looks pretty good and I still get the visual effect of the tassels moving without the drumming and tapping.

    softening leather

    G'day folks

Whenever I want to soften leather, I use a product available over here called "Gee-Y" (aka "Gee-Why""). It's a pink emulsion that's rather viscous when cold, but does wonders for leather!

Just grab a small dollop and rub it in with your hands (it makes your hands beautiful and soft, btw! ). As has been suggested with other treatments, leaving the gee-y treated leather near a heat-source (heater, fire, sun) that will warm the leather without burning will help the stuff work.

24 hours later, (or less if you're impatient like me) just buff the excess off, and Viola! Softened leather!

And yes, it will change the colour of the leather to a darker shade!

Personally, I don't use "saddle soap" unless I want to clean leather... and even then, I'd be treating the cleaned leather with Gee-Y.

    cheers
