Is this the case and are these two sites worth visiting for a history buff? Are there any other American Revolution sites closer to MB other than Charleston itself? Sorry to ask so many questions but I know there are quite a few SC residents on the forum so I figured this would be a good place to ask.
King's Mountain and Cowpens are worth the drive; both had a good number of Ulster-Scots and Highland Scots participants, including Major Patrick Ferguson, who commanded Crown forces at King's Mountain. You might also consider Moore's Creek Bridge in SE NC, where reportedly the last "Highland Charge" was made by Loyalist Highland Scots, who shouted, "King George and Broadswords!" as they charged the rebel's line.
All three are NPS sites; visit www.nps.gov and select the individual park's web page for more information.
Cheers,
Todd
