A nice set of pictures. It makes me want to be there! I'll never forget the time I climbed to the top of the Wallace monument. It was a crisp clear day in December and part of the castle (the Great Hall I think) had just undergone a big clean up. It was illuminated by a shaft of sunlight and shone like a golden gem stone in the middle distance. If only I'd had my camera! The views from the top of the monument are fantastic. It may have been an exceptionally clear day that day, but looking south I could clearly see Edinburgh and the Forth Bridges, and looking north I could see the top of Ben More. I literally had the wole of Scotland at my feet, and to think that this special place celebrates the great Sir William Wallace added to the majesty and splendour of the occasion.
The Kilt is my delight !

Lanark; Wallace Monument; Stirling Castle............
This is shaping up to be a superb series of photothreads, Mike; are there more where these came from?

I was hoping you would have some closer shots of the Wallace monument. I've only seen distance shots and I'm curious about it's construction. Looks like I'll have to wait for those, or go and see it myself!
Try the Wallace page on Undiscovered Scotland.com http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/stirling/wallace/ for a few piccies.
Thanks Mike, still trying to work Stirling into June's trip.

Thank you Mike. No problem viewing the photographs. It reminds me of a great vacation last year. Much nicer than the year end summary form MasterCard.
