A lot of us wear regular flat-brim caps, also known as driving caps or newsboys. I actually wear it more without kilts than with.
It's a less costumish alternative to the Henry hat you mentioned.
I was a Boy Scout when those red berets were introduced. My entire troop refused to wear them.
